Thing is with these surlys is that nothing looks bad on them

I had a gorgeous Cross Check which I sold when hard up, still kicking myself. I shortened the stupidly long gear cables after these were taken. No pics sadly.

A Crosscheck is one of the only early Surlys I’ve not owned. I possibly might if I ever get a geared bike…

It was heavy but rode very well and did everything, fantastic bike.

Nice I really need a bike I can just thrash to the ground without worrying about it, can’t really find a reasonable price retro ti ss frame at the moment…

SS specific Ti frames, especially retro, are a rare thing indeed and always demand a premium price. I actually can't even remember seeing one pre-1998. When SS got more popular nobody wanted V-brakes so out came sliding drop-outs for disk brakes or eccentric bottom brackets which drove the price up even more.

I love the Steamroller, check out the Spa Cycles Audax Mono, I'm struggling with not buying one. Jo would beat me to a pulp Edit they will supply with a matching steel fork instead of the plastic thing.

As you know I only ride SS but I've quite enjoyed 3 speed. Direct drive is my do it all gear, for extra steep sections I can drop down to first and if I ever spin out, 3rd. Very versatile.
