Suggestions for old Rocky Mountain Fusion

Ok... Frame info:
- Centre of crank/bottom bracket to top of seat tube collar = 18.5"
- length of top tube = 21.5"

That would make it the same size as mine.
It's an 18.5" STT frame (Short Top Tube) so has the top tube length of there 17" frame.
It's a bottom of the range entry level MTB
(of course the likes of Marin, Trek etc would have you believe it's mid to upper mid range )

everything else is in here http://www.goatsurfer.com/assets/Rocky_ ... n_1992.pdf
though if the mods read your last post of offers and selling etc..

Still got this frame, and really would like to throw some suspension forks on it.

Thinking maybe Rock Shox Indy S... Any good???

nice frame, have you had the t-cut out on it yet?

and sus wise, i'd go Mag series Rock Shox as suggested.
Although an early Manitou would look pretty cool (but pricey)

there's always the english route too with some Rc-35 Pace.

or ignore all that - stick the indys on and just ride it :)

Not really that good unless you get spring upgrade.

Have you built it up? That's a might nice looking frame.

Not built it yet - never seem to find the time... But I do keep tripping over it each time I go in the garage - which is what makes me want to do it! LOL!!!

I'm also a complete novice when it comes to replacing forks etc. Is there anything else I need other than the forks? i.e any measurements I need to take/check before choosing a fork, do I need new bearings/seals etc?

Any advice would be very helpful :)

I'd build and clean up with the fork fitted while looking for another fork.

But if you stay threaded headset like you have then you shouldn't need new bearings (if it all feels fine, just a clean and grease) otherwise.

Headtube (length of tube on the frame the steerer fork goes through) will be 110cm and 1 1/8" headset fork

So for a new threaded fork you'll need 110cm + headset height.
So staying with that headset you just measure the current fork length (If I remember I can go measure mine).
If you get a new one, you just add it's height on to the 110cm.

If you switch to a threadless (ahead) setup it's a little more complicated.
It's headtube length + headset height + stem height, that's the minimum length you'll need. (as a guide 110cm + 30cm + 40cm, say 180cm then)
You'll also need to fit the new headset and find a new stem.
