Stupid freewheel question

I found an NOS Sachs New Success 135mm rear hub that's very shiny so Ima use it on my next build. I also dug an old Sachs 7 speed freewheel out of the bargain bin I'd like to use with it. Problem is, I think the hub was specced for an 8-speed freewheel. Should I just screw that sucka on and use the derailleur limit screws to keep the chain on, or should I try to move some spacers around to get it lined up right? Or is this just a bad idea in general

You could do either, but moving spacers around (and re-dishing the wheel) is the best option; you will have a slightly stronger wheel and reduce the chances of a bent axle.
