steel hardtail for trails....

I wouldn't describe Sunn hardtail frames from that epoch as having anything approaching "slack" headstock angles. Fun as a fun thing, mind, but I have a hard time on the Sunn when things start getting gnarly downhill. My colleague's 2015 explosif, on the other hand - a whole different bag of fun.

Out of interest, how does it do on the climbs? I've got some vague ideas about getting an Explosif Ti at some point but if it climbs like a dog, I'm not interested.

It's pretty damned good. 27.5 with fat rubber at low pressure, so eats the bumps for breakfast even with the forks locked out, running 1x10 which I found a bit odd but it works.

The riding position is totally different to my Sunn, and I'm not sure I like the wide bars / short stem thing very much.

On the other hand, my back is telling me that it would be a good idea to invest in a "modern" hardtail or even FS XC / enduro bike. I'm considering cheap chinese carbon...
