sram x9 10 speed rear derailleur hanger

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me or show a pic of where the tab should go on the hanger

I've tried it what looks obvious but the derailleur is touching the frame in the smallest rear cog

Difficult to describe, so I've tried to take a picture.

The hanger tab, sits on the frame hanger, where the screw would sit on a normal mech.

was being thick had the spring part wrong
