I built this up intending to use it myself but alas an old injury has put an end to any ideas I had of putting this to good use this or any other winter.

It is in dark green and has a lot of new components. The specification is:

Tubing: Surly 4130 CroMoly steel. Main triangle double-butted. TIG-welded.

Rear Dropouts: Vertical dropouts, 130mm spaced; with eyelet.

Brake Compatibility: Mid-reach 47–57mm.

Braze-ons/extras: Single fender eyelets front and rear, dual water bottle mounts, and pump peg.

Seatpost diameter: 27.2mm.

Seatpost clamp diameter: 30.0mm.

Headset/Steertube: 1-1/8˝ threadless.

Front Derailleur Clamp Diameter: 28.6mm.

Bottom bracket shell: 68mm wide, threaded English 1.37˝ x 24t.

Chainring Clearance: 39/53t.

Tyre Clearance: Room for 700c x 32mm or 700c x 28mm with mud guards.

Fork: 4130 CroMoly, lugged and brazed. Sloping crown, tapered and butted curved blades with dual dropout eyelets.

Weight: 54cm = 4.62 lb (2.10kg) Fork—uncut = 2.2 lb (1000g).

The bike has:

1. Shimano STX 7/8 speed long cage rear mech.

2. Shimano STX front mech.

3. 36h Alesa alloy 700c wheels with Shimano STX sealed rear hub and Shimano Alivio Parralax front hub.

4. Tektro dual pivot brakes (new).

5. Continental Grand Prix 4 seasons 700 x28c tyres (new). I think I paid £78 for these 2.

6. New inner tubes.

7. Kalloy lightweight alloy stem.

8. Lightweight alloy drilled drop bars.

9. Shimano SLR levers.

10. New Specialized soft grip gel tape (Brand new fitted with under Gel pads. This is the new one that has just been released by Specialized).

11. NOS Middlemore of Coventry black leather saddle with saddlebag loops. Cost me £65 but I think it's much nicer than the B17 that it resembles.

12. New SKS silver long mudguards (Some how the medal bits have corroded in my garage; probably condensation).

13. Alloy seat post.

14. Has had new inner and outer brake and gear cables.

15. Had the bottom bracket serviced. Acor head set.

16. Comes with 2 original bottle holders.

17. A lovely Sugino triple; 46t 36t 26t alloy chain set with original high quality alloy MKS touring pedals.

18. Shimano light action shifters.

The bike has had a very small repair to the right hand down stay on the rear triangle. This was damaged when the door of the 4 x 4 blew in the wind against the stay. This required a small weld (carried out by a professional welder that specialises in bike repairs) to the stay where it received a small puncture by the door lock. The weld has been treated and re-painted but not oven baked.

That aside, the paint work is in excellent condition. \the wheels are true with smooth bearings. It is a fantastic ride.

The geometry of the frame can be found at Surly bikes.com. If you go to their website and click on the Pacer and then frame it will show the table for a 58 cm. To be honest it's too big for me. I would suggest it would suit someone 6 feet to 6 feet 4" tall but to give a better idea of size:

The stand height is: 83 cm.

From the top of the Middlemore saddle to the floor is 99cm.

I am more than happy for any prospective buyer to come and try the bike out prior to purchase with absolutely no obligation.
That is how confident I am that there are no problems and the price does reflect the frame repair. New these are eye wateringly expensive. Well I think so any way!

Would make a superb winter or commuting bike.

I would prefer the bike to be collected from the GL5 area of Stroud, Gloucestershire.

I will reluctantly courier the bike for an additional £30 to standard UK post codes.
