Another (cracking) job by Dan!

Naive question there: will the welding repair stands forever? I was told that to prevent further tube cracking, you have to drill or cut the neighborhood of the crack to stop its propagation. Is this what Dan did when you said that he "v-cuts" (what's that?) the crack? And then filling the gap with filler metal while welding?

Should do yes.
Pretty sure that’s what a V Cut does.
And that Dan and FTW offer the same repair.
Or complete HT replacement.
I wanted to keep it as original as possible so opted for the repair.
