Big DB fan here. I wish I had lots of pics of mine from bitd. 92 was the year for me. I studied the catalogue front to back & got an Apex in Black Forest Spangle paint option come june of that year. That bike got used non-stop. Here's the only pic I have of me mucking about on some bmx jumps on the saturday of the 94 Cheddar Challenge. Aged 15.
By this time it had been resprayed by Argos & had a lot of the components replaced from the original. It's probably the avenger headset & fr wheel that are original.
I'll see what my photo stash can unearth of other DiamondBacks I might have saved off the net.

Here's a 91 Axis I put together from a frameset to almost original spec, back in 2017 I think. I rode it at Mayhem that year.

I’ve recently purchased a DBR Axis R from a local seller it isn’t my kind of bike but I do like to pick up a bargain and of course condition is a key factor.
The seller had bought the bike brand new from his local bike shop in around 1999, soon after the purchase he moved abroad leaving the bike in storage with family. Now he has returned to the UK he had no use for the old bike and decided to part with it. He said he had probably only done 25 miles on the bike, judging by the wear on the tyres, still having the bobbles this would seem plausible.
I have researched the bike, mainly through past posts on this platform which has been an excellent source of information.
It seems the frame was manufactured in 1997 but most components are a mix of older STX-RC shifters with the newer Deore RD- M510 rear derailleur. Most of these bikes I have seen were sold with a rigid front fork.
Considering the age of the bike the 16” frame only has minor rust spots.
Components:
26” Vuelta Airline 1 rims with shimano RM-40 hubs.
RST Gamma TL forks
Shimano STX-RC 8 speed shifters
Deore V-brake levers
Ovation brake callipers
Deore RD M510 rear derailer
LX front derailer
Shimano FC MC18 crankset
