Shimano Chain Ring SG B53

Hello. Another one of my daft questions. I have currently on my bicycle Shimano FC1056 and a single chain ring Shimano 42.

I would like to add 'gears' so would a Shimano SG B53 be okay to use as I already have one?

Many thanks.

It's all about the BCD (that is the hole pattern that fixes it to the crank). I think the BCD pattern for your chainset is 130 and anything as low as 39 is standard (there are some 38's, but theyre not standard) and 53 is the usual big one.

I'd try the 53 you have - just place it alongside and if the fixing hole pattern matches, you should be ok.

But ... you may need new (longer) chainring bolts if the ones you have are for a single ring.

Hello. Thank you for answering my question. The 53t chaing ring does line up. I do have those longer chainring bolts so hopefully I will be okay. Thanks again 🤓
