Merry Xmas folks.

This came off a bike and I doubt it's going to be of any use to be. The steerer has had a bit of a life by the looks of it. Anyone got any information about it or if its worth anything? Could probably do with a service but I'm not super clued up on what's good and what's not with suspension forks apart from the obvious.

500mm A2C
1 1/8th steerer

Reputed to be a reasonable fork in its day but that screw from the crown into the steerer looks to be a bit foreign to my gammy eye? Hopefully others can offer more advice.

Good forks, cheap version of Judy's, work a bit better though imo.

Despite that, they don't fetch much as not as desirable as a Judy. From what I can see of the condition, I would say you would be looking at £25, assuming someone wants a few parts off it, the internals really as the legs don't look to healthy either. And like above, the bolt into the steerer has been added, probably changing, or trying to, the steerer. Personally I would not ride them.

I have been in the market for some spares for these forks. Those look to have had a pretty tough life. That steerer corrosion looks pretty dangerous and with the steerer added that way pretty much .means the csu is only fit for the bin.. I could be up for them for parts if the price is low enough, just as they seem to have been used and abused.

Drop me a PM with an offer, happy to post and can send any pics or answer questions if needed 🤙

Found this online with a similar looking bolt to on the pair I have? Maybe someone doing the same thing on another pair?

Good researching! Still look at odds with others I've got / seen and conventional engineering practice but yours are obviously no one-off. Just doesn't look designed in, looks like an after thought / sticking plaster to an issue.

Strangely I have seen another example with the rear bolt. Unusual as all their other forks with removable steerer have the standard twin bolt split crown fitment. Though half of the ones I have seen do look like diy versions, while a couple look a lot cleaner. Maybe an early cheap attempt at the removable steerer before switching to the conventional design!?
