Hi everyone, bit of a lurker on Retrobike I'll be honest I mainly just use this site to buy/sell and obviously for browsing a bit of old-school bikeporn. I'm younger than most of the bikes on here.. Personally I'm a 26" for life kind of person, they are a bit uncommon nowadays and recently I realised my rig was getting a lot of "proper retro hog that!" comments from other riders so I think I should post it up here.

Been mountain biking for a fair while, when I was properly getting into it in about 2016 or so I remember the coolest bikes were in my opinion the Oranges of that time - just looked super cool to me. Last November I realised I was going to need a bike I can actually sit down on and pedal (ew) so got looking for old-school Fives and Crushes and the like, found this on ebay for £500 and had to have it. Here's what it looked like upon delivery:

Bit older than what I was probably looking for but couldn't pass it up really lol.. Also the condition was best described as "completely shagged", the shock was broken, felt rough and the lockout didn't work, one of the brakes was seized and the other had lost all its fluid, random mismatched parts all over and most of all way too XC-ish for me, it needed a bit of a makeover, sent the suspension off for a service (fork was short lived in the end but felt so plush afterwards), got some new seals and hardware for the brakes from Hope and rebuilt them, changed a few other bits as well. Mostly bar + stem, can't really hack the old school setup on todays trails it now feels way better, also the bashguard, essential for my riding. Mostly period-ish, wanted it to still feel a bit retro (2x9 gears, rigid post, cool looking brakes). Still see other Oranges of this age out on the trails sometimes and none of them are alike, it's quite cool. Anyway there's my bike cheers
