I know this is an old thread, but I thought it was worth a post. Biff's SS was indeed made by Helmut at Sonic Cycles - he put the brake bosses in the wrong place on the frame so it was always a struggle to get the brakes set up. I know because I brought it from Biff back in about 2003, rode it and loved it (all tatty and ratty) then spent a fortune tarting it up and suddenly I had to worry about where I locked it, and I had to accept it was actually too small for me.
I was talking to Biff a while ago, and apparently it's resurfaced - someone stripped it down and found 'Biff' stamped in the bottom bracket shell and got in touch with him.
