Old School Hero
Hi
Need to take the back wheel off my bike to replace the tyre
The bike is equipped with a 3 speed sturmey archer hub and brake, removing the brake cable is pretty straightforward and I think I should be able to remove the gear chain,
Problem is the bike wheel mounts in horizontal (are these called horizontal drop outs?) so I’m unsure how to remove the wheel as I cant get the chain off, the guy in the shop said that it is quite a tricky thing to do and should be tackled by a bike workshop
Is it a case of sliding the wheel forward to get enough travel on the chain to lift it off the sprocket then sliding it backwards and off the bike?
When refitting is there any tips for getting the correct tension in the chain ?
