Raleigh 531 Road Ace

Zac

Retro Newbie
Just finished building my Raleigh 531c road ace, 5 years in the making. Brought the frame and forks from a yard sale for 25pounds thinking I could build it up for under 100 pounds, I didn't know much about about bikes then, I know a bit more now. It has cost a lot more to get it up and running, it's been worth it. Brought it because I can remember the Road Ace being displayed at the other end of the showroom to my raleigh cadet I had for my tenth birthday. Got all the parts from eBay apart from the wheels and 600 hubs. Tried to get all shimano 600 group set, have got none standard brake levers and clipless pedals because I use it every week and like clipping in and riding the hoods. I'm not the fastest cyclist and get overtaken a lot. But do get some admiring glances from the carbon fibre brigade. Hills abit hard on the 11-22t but it's not a race.

Oh that is nice!
Hankered after one of those myself.
Very nice work. Ride and be proud.
