7 digit number (ignore the other) could place it as a pre-1973 carlton when they started the two letter prefix numbers.

A shed load of Carltons had the wrap round seat cluster.....even mt Carlton Cobra all chrome :D

I think you've nailed it, looks very similar to this:

Thanks

This is strange.............

Mine had the remenents of the exact same paint work or "ancrillichrome" as they call it.

But it has the SUN worksop headbadge, not a Carlton one???

Your paint looks like "paint", the acrillichrome was more of a thin paint / laquer effect.

The Cobra had Crespera lugs so the Sun looks an Ideal candidate :)

Thats because i'd been at it with paint stripper, wire wool, so it sort of become more solid as I scrubbed it. Before I did that it was almost see through, like very fine, tinted paint.

Thanks for all the help

So I think it is a SUN. Nothing special but a nice bit of British cycling history. Not sure it's something i'd like to keep, got other projects I'd like to finish so will probably end up selling this.

Here is a good thread on SUN bikes that confirmed this is a SUN

My only slight reservation is the the head badge. It looks like the same frame but the rivet holes on my frame are horizontal not vertical. Even if it is a re badged SUN the rivet holes are in the wrong place :?
