Hi guys/gals,

I've decided to look into getting a retro road bike, i've had enough of my mountain bike and after riding my mothers old raleigh road bike I can't bare to get back on the mtn!

I've been looking at some vintage bikes on eBay, I'm really interested in these... if you could have a look and tell me what looks good nick, good for the price and what they're actually worth I'd be super grateful.

Cheers!

Has a 501 frame, no other info on it. The seller says that it could use a little bit of servicing but brakes and gears work ok. Going for £100

Raleigh Eclat w/ 501 double butted

I've just found this, I live near the owner and he is looking for £200 cash... I think I'll offer £150 if someone can confirm it's a good bike/worth the money. Also is it a freewheel??

Things happen slightly slower over here. If it is genuine the 531 frame would be my choice. That tubing feels more 'alive' if you know what I'm trying to say. Fit is important. If you are on the hoods, you shouldn't be able to see the front hub.

Edit. Those frames do seem to be quite different sizes so you need to know the size you require.

I'm not used to a slow forum, especially when eBay is ticking away! Thanks for your input though.

What do you make of the last bike with the eBay link I posted? I can't tell if the blue bike is a genuine 531, by the looks it is a gran/d sport but who knows since it's had a new paint job!

Someone has put a bid on the Pro-Race, so I imagine that is out of the question unless it stays in the £80-100 region but that is a 60CM frame, the other two are 23" and 23.5" which would be fine for me.
