why dont you run a cable hanger from the headset to run cantis ?
just in case you were going to get the forks powder coated..... i have a set of black pace rc30 legs.... and im after some chrome ones so we could do a deal

I've just got myself a Merlin mountain frame, always wanted one even tried to sell my rc100 back in the day to pay for one so now I'm busy searching for parts for it.
