PACE Rc100 hose guides question

Been building the Rc100 back up now its had its new coat of paint and am installing the new hose guides to the top tube:

These are the aftermarket alloy ones rather than the plastic originals and I don't want to mess these up as they rare to get hold of it seems.

I've installed them up not sure if the small pins that are sticking up need to be forced into the housings (it seems to require a ridiculous amount of force). Anyone used these before on their RC100s?

Maybe they are too short?

Those black pins you actually push in and they expand the plugs inside (like a rawl plug) I expect that the holes in the top tube are actually smaller than expected.

Has the paint reduced the ID of the holes?

They appear the same diameter holes as my previous Rc100 which was painted black (Steve Worlands old one).

I suspect these cable mount pins are designed for larger holes and therefore are not totally out-the-box compatible. Modding here we go...
