Outer cables thinner than 4mm? Do they exist?

Hi all,
The eyelet of the gear cable outer (rear derailleur) of my Hewitt frame is just shy of 4mm. The gear cables outer I have are all slightly too big for it, even without the ferrule.
A quick search with "thin gear cable outers" brings me to several options, but they are all 4mm and above. Do you know of any cables that are thinner than 4mm?
Feels silly to buy new outers just for the stretch from the eyelet to the derailleur (I have downtube shifters so that's the only bit with the outer), but as it stands just doesn't work...
