First clean all. The rusty cheaps are quite smal once you have clean (with oil useally go out most of the rust). Them I would apply something to protect or repair if you are good doing that (for me is not easy, I always see were the paint have been repair.)

Aye, I've made a start while I wait for parts for another build. I quite like survivor bikes & this one so far looks like it's the right side of salvageable without full repaint & decaling. I'm hoping most parts are salvageable too. Stems shot unfortunately but I have a straight replacement. While a minter is nice it's good to be able to relax a bit more using a bike that's already got a few battle scars & character.
