Orange Bikes to go in to administration!

I managed to do a tour on a Stage 6 this summer (bike of a friend). And though it was a bit too small for me (size M) it was a brillant ride on a hugely capable bike. After that I was convinced my next modern bike would be an Orange Stage Evo to replace my SC Superlight. Just the right mixture between oldschool single pivot design and modern geometry. So all fingers crossed for them to pull through!

As a self confessed Orange fanboy I'm quite sad at the news, but hopeful that something can remain. I do wonder if the excess expenditure of running all the pro teams has taken a hit on the bottom line that just isn't being propped up by sales (yes, I know there are other revenue streams that the pro teams generate, and that it is "marketing")

I've always loved their innovation, which resulted in some particularly crap full sussers in the early days, but the 5 was an absolute game changer - especially given the simple design and advent of "free riding".

My quest for a unicorn Vitamin T is only spurred on by this!

i only heard a couple of hours ago, can only try and phone them on monday when everyone else will, got 6 in stock, hardtails and gravel onlky, gonna send them out the door atb what i paid for them.

i think this whole thing is the beginning, well the middle, of bikes not being sold in shops anymore, it'll all go direct to consumer, you want to ride it first? they'll have regular demo days around the country and you'll be told to go to them or order it blind, i think that will be how it goes with most brands.
Sadly I agree, no customer relationship, less staff.. its already common enough with various things, and brands such as Mercedes did away with franchise years ago and have there own centres.. very sad.
Thats a brand ive admired for years, and the only one ive been looking at for a new / newer bike so it potentially going is very sad.
I hope they find some solution that does more than buy the brand for abuse by a bigger entity.
