Orange 224 GBR

Dirt Disciple
Not everyone's cup of tea but I'd always wanted one of these since they released them back in 2006. Picked this frame up from eBay last year off a guy who refurbished it. It's been shot blasted, then powder coated using powder which was ordered from an American company that Orange use. New decals, including managing to peel the two seat tube ones off to get sent away and re-made. Top one doesn't quite fit. And new bearings.

I managed to get hold of a set of 2005 Dorados for it. I actually bought red decals for them, but I think the blue suits it.

I did a quick mock up just to see how it sits:

Got a few other bits for it so will update soon.

Thanks! I've always found the Dorados interesting.

Was originally thinking of a set of white 40s but the prices have gone a bit mad. Think it's due to lots of people fitting them to electric motor bikes.

Have sorted a few bits on this recently.
I realized that the front brake mount I have the for the Dorado's spaced the Hope Mono M4 caliper out to suit a 245mm disc.. After a bit of research I found that I needed a caliper No5 to space it out correctly to suit a 205mm disc. Unfortunately these seem to be extremely rare. I worked out that I should get away with using a No3 caliper and a 225mm disc, so that's what I did! These discs are the biggest you can buy I think (?) and stupidly big!

Rebuilt the front and rear brakes. The front is bled and fitted. The rear I still need to thread the cable through the internal bit on the swingarm. Also the rear lever was fairly bad, but ended up quite well with the new seal kit.

Also had a bit of trouble with spacing the MRP chain device out with the crank arm spider I had. I ended up turning the spider down and all works well now.
