On-One Pompino

Summertime is here, and the old Pomp was looking a bit beaten-up after winter.

It was also in desperate need of a new BB, new freewheel and summer gearing (42x17T as opposed to the 39x17T I run through winter) and summer tyres (Panaracer Pasela 32mm).
Plus, I'd elected to take any thief-magnet components (Chris King headset, Thomson post & clamp) off in order to make the bike a true city lockup that I can leave outside my apartment on summer nights instead of lugging it down 3 flights of narrow stairs every time I want to ride it.
So naturally, it was time for it to receive my patented Five-Dollar Blowjob™...

A Kalloy Uno seatpost has also been sprayed up to replace the Thomson

and the stem and spacers received a repaint too.

Re:

Thanks for a great thread! I have enjoyed the way this build has evolved, and they way it is getting used. I think your final winter build up would be the one for me, a real go anywhere do anything set up.

New headset, BB and this later

she's rolling again. It's only been a couple of weeks, but I've genuinely missed this thing!

Awesome green with the red splatter effect!

Loved my Mk1 pompino, had 135mm spacing so ended up with an alfine when the commute went up to 15 hilly miles.

Did everything from pub runs, towing the kids all the way up to the Wicklow 200.

Re:

Thread bump but just wanted to say that I love this bike! Picking one up on Sunday and this gives me plenty of food for thought.

You still riding this?
