old raleigh slow slow project/daily rider

slowly managing to get it off, using soapy water and a old nail brush, trying my hardest not to damage the paint underneath

got totally p**sed off with the bike last night after I had a few drinks and ive pretty much stripped it down, just the crankset left on it now, couldn't find my crank extractor and still cant so ended up drinking even more lol, ill post pics up later on, waiting on new parts to come to start rebuilding

heres the pics. just need to drill the seat clamp bolt as its rounded off and cant get seatpost out, used to be able to adjust it but guess I overtightened the bolt, will get it drilled out at college tomorrow, going to look real funny cycling down the road with a frame strapped to my back lol
one of next doors daughters came out and asked if I wanted them to get the yellow and blue paint off, me being me I said no its ok, she came back out 5 mins later and said move, sprayed it with some weird spray stuff and wiped it off. wouldn't tell me what it was ill take some pics of the frame without the yellow/blue paint later

parts are slowly coming in,
recieved my new crankset £4 win on ebay just need to clean them up a bit and install them
got my cable kit wich i won for £1.89 yet again on ebay with free postage


got more stuff to come -
700c wheels and tyres (trial run for a idea i had) if it doesnt work/i dont like them ill put them aside for a future project £15 win on ebay with free postage
26 inch mavic wheels and some continental sport contact tyres- £45 with free postage

going to be painting frame and forks as there are spots where the paint is flaking because of rust, thinking either black or red, not 100% yet, got a week to decide, looking for new rear mech and a quill stem so im off to ebay for another hour

sanding the frame today, spent 2 hours doing it so far another 2-3 hours and itll be ready for primer
gonna be painting it black, white cables, white grips, white decals

700c wheels for £15 delivered. jammy git, been trying to find some wheels for my raleigh road bike for ages

gonna be interesting to see what you end up doing with this thats for sure.

taking it really slow now ill have the rat bike ready for duty for next monday, lifts until then
think ill do a bit of a modern build but try keep it a bit retro too, hard to explain really, slowly collecting parts, want to get it right, going to have a few different wheelsets with different tyres too so i can change as/when i need to

now ive bent the lizard rat bike frame and ive got something else i can be much more proud of - ive decided this will be my rat bike - frame has been partially sanded and some areas are down to bare metal - i will be leaving it as it is - clobbering whatever i can onto this right now - trying to thread the break cable through the frame and its proving to be a pain in the arse - one bad raleigh design.
got all new cables for free - poweredbypies will know how
all i really need now is a left thumb shifter, new chain and some rigid forks - will post plenty pics later -hoping to have it ready for saturdays birmingham ride
