new idea for your bare inner cable

You can get kits for this already. Like the flak jacket cables avid did. Ferrules that the outer plugs into keepomg the cable sealed from the elements. Won't protect your frame as it will still rub, but as it's plastic it won't do as near as much damage as the naked cable.

Im not terribly offended by my cables - they do an important job which should be celebrated! Ive generally left cables bare - but have 'decorated' them with pretty red cable ferrules and red rubber donuts on the top tube.

I use heatshrink instead of cable ends, ooh it saves 0.01 g!!

I used that(got from Maplins) to do both control wires along their full length.
You know the wire is going to move an inch or so back and forth so just have it short that much on the ends.
As anyone will a polished top tube will tell you, the wires scratch the hell out the polish.

I cant remember the size i got but when the heat was applied, it shrank to a tight fit. It was either 1m or 1.2m length :?
