Well, it's taken an entire day for me to realise that the steerer tube on a set of Marzocchi Bomber Z2s isn't welded to the forks... It's bolted on!!!JohnH":4ald8guv said:Bad news.
Marzocchis = 1 inch threadless. Saracen = 1 & 1/8 inch threaded.
The truth is that I really don't have the space... or the tools... or the experience to do it myself.OldFatTi":1fn5i6i3 said:£100 isn't too bad, you are paying for the convenience really.
If I go ahead with this, then yes OFT, the steerer's yours. I'm not sure when it's gonna be ready to give to you; the LBS has to order the new steerer and find a space in the diary to book me in. Which area of Sussex are you?OldFatTi":1fn5i6i3 said:Cheeky, but can I have the old 1" steerer? I have a good home for it!!

The penny only dropped when the guy at my LBS suggested that he could supply a steerer tube to convert the Marzocchis, new headset, new stem and fit them all to my bike for about £100. So that looks like my best option.
