I wonder if the "Trek" decals were intended as a sort of camouflage to ward off potential thieves. Nice find.

And there was me thinking it was a bona fide pre Klein Trek, ;)

The previous owner bought it like this many many years ago, did not know anything about MC San Andreas
Positive side ,.. I paid a Trek price ;)

Re: Shocking project,... Not a Trek

Shocking. I like it in yellow. Great find. What year is it? 92/93?
I am on the look out for one of those, too. They are a good example of a working rear suspension that was built for 10 years, even thou its a URT design.

Will you try a different dampener? Me thinks it might ride better, then. Keep the original one on the shelf, of course...

Yes , i think it is 1992. From what i found out it is one of the first .

Rear shock, don't know yet. it is rather hard but because I am a rigid frame rider normally this feels not that bad. I can't get used to that spongy feeling at the rear while riding
But i might try one just to test ,. i might like it after all

That is a cool looking bike aswell,..

What does this make a 2nd gen Suspenders?
I have not started the in depth search for this bike/fork yet ,..

Re: Shocking project,... Not a Trek

That spongy feeling is exactly what will improve ( or shoud improve, more exactly) using a modern dampener. ;)

But it all depends on the length of your original one. Everything shorter than 165mm can be hard to find these days.

That vario bike is cool. Would be something for al. I understand that he likes those strange raritys...

Some little details like the dropouts weld…
You could make comparison with mine which is 1st generation (There were an earlier generation I saw in a MountainBike Action but it would be a prototype)

I love that fork
