Mavic - Paris Dakaar hub - Help Axle / Adjustment Issue

Devout Dirtbag
Wondering if anyone can provide help with an odd hub issue I just encountered.

I have an old Mavic Paris Dakaar Hub (vintage = early 90s).

Last week when I took the wheel off the bike, the axle lost its tension in the hub. I tried reinstalling the hub into the fork and tightening the adjusting nut, but the nut will not tighten up.

I don't think the axle is broken as it is still contained within the hub on both sides and when I turn the axle both sides turn.

Any trouble shooting ideas?

You will need to take it apart by removing the collars etc if the axle is locked in the forks and the bearing adjustment nut does nothing, the very fine threads may be stripped. If so a new axle is required.

Hopefully they are not stripped, I don't expect the axle is easy to find.

This is an odd one as it came out of nowhere, all of a sudden it was loose.

100mm fronts, I have a few as they're the same as all other Mavic front axles. See what it's like when you have it apart.
