Mavic Crossmax Service

So I'm completely clueless when it comes to servicing hubs, but I want to learn. I have a pair of the ceramic Mavic crossmax wheels and the rear hub feels a little rough. I don't even know how to take the freehub off. Any advice/guidance would be much appreciated

There was a tread very recently discussing this but for another Mavic wheel name, crosslink maybe? Principle should be the same, though you should use a special tool for the bearing cover, you can get away with circlip pliers or similar.

For the freehub removal, you need an Allen key in the end cap/qr and remove that you should be able to slot the spacer off, then pull the axle.

I think the freehub may pull off at this point, I've never removed mine.

In the aforementioned thread there was a link to the instruction manual to do the whole job.

Just take it slow, step by step and it often helps to take pics so you can reverse engineer the job to put it all back together.

Thanks, I'll have a look for the thread, and thanks for the advice as well

Hopefully the crossmax manuals will be a little easier to obtain.

I have a 'spares or repair' crossamax rear wheel going cheap ifs of any use...
