Marzocchi XC 90s lower leg compatibility

Retro Newbie
I've recently bought a 1996 Marzocchi XC-R fork, but I wondered if the 1996 XC700 lowers are compatible with them... Does anyone happen to know or have any experience with this?

The XC700 lowers are the nice drilled ones which imo looks better, but I got the XC-Rs for a good price.

(XC-R fork and XC700 lowers pics attached)

I'm aware I'd need a different adjuster assembly (due to the different dials), but I can't find a clear answer otherwise.

Any help appreciated!

XC700 innards if it helps.
I don't have that version of the XCR unfortunately.

I would guess not as there are no dials on the 700 legs on the front. I guess it depends on how they activate as to whether this is possible.

You can see them in this picture.

What I cannot understand is to get the lower and the valves, you pretty much need to buy the fork.
The only part which may be interchangable (or modified) ...
would be the crown/steerer which you can take off anyway, the bushings and seals which are easy enough and the stanchion (last part may need modification .

(Brace and bolts too).

So erm why not just use a whole fork ;-)
Or drill some holes to get the look (but not quite).

Blowout diagrams will be in the public archive https://public-repository.org/
or @Dr-Zocchi website for each fork, (tagged as it'll be easier for him to compare stuff.)

Don't know what in the end the question is, but XC600/700 and XCR are different forks and https://public-repository.org/ is my Marzocchi Documents Repository.

My other site including a shop with some of my parts is https://dr-zocchi.projectweb.de/shop/ .

If you check exploded drawings or the excellent manuals you can view the differences easily.

And if you need spares / seals => I have it all.

Edit: Ah ... it is about lowers. Lowers and stanchions are completly different. I have new XCR stanchions from service boxes in stock.👊🤙
