I seem to make a career out of buying jerseys that will never fit. Each of the following were bought as ‘used’ but they’ve been in wardrobe for far too long and I’ll never lose enough weight to squeeze into them.
In any case, I need to fund this years Sandstone Way adventure, So here goes...
First up is a vintage De Rosa jersey made by Caratti. The colours are really good. If I was being picky there’s one tiny click on the back. Three pockets, elastic all still good. Measures 20 inches (approx 51cm) put-to-pit.
Second up is a T-Mobile jersey by Giodana. Pretty much perfect, I don’t think there’s a mark in it. All elastic is lovely and three pockets - but sadly it’s never going to fit me. Measures almost 23 inches pit-to-pit (58cm).
Last but certainly not least, and I know it’s a MTB jersey in the Road section, is a Marin Jersey. I always wanted one of these to go with my vintage Mount Vision 98 but alas I don’t have my 98 figure anymore. I think this is from 1998 and maybe similar to the one Paul Lasenby wore. It’s made by Pearl Izumi and looks stunning. I’d frame it and hang it in the lounge but Mrs M won’t hear of it. It’s a large size 20inches (59cm) pit-to-pit, three pockets, elastic all tip-top.
