London Marathon training thread, anyone ?

Always somebody faster though :D

Llanelli half last Sunday, I was looking for sub 1:26 but it was howling with wind and belting it down so I was reasonably happy with 1:26:52 :)

San Domenico 20 mile race this Sunday, weather looks good at the moment so hoping to run the flat bits at London race pace of 6.45 m/miles.

Achilles started playing up after I had a lovely but hilly run around Gower on Tuesday, it's feeling o.k now so I'm going to give it a bit of a test tonight and see how it goes. Still hopefull of racing on Sunday but I might have to slow it all down for a little while.

The weather was a real surprise - actual sun (which I caught). It got quite toasty after mile 6. I was convinced I was going slow so I was mega surprised I beat by PB by 6 minutes and did 1:46:46. There's no way I could maintain that pace for a marathon but well chuffed all the same. Of course Mo had to go and poo-poo it the same day by running the same distance in 59 minutes :shock:

Well done, 6 minutes is a huge chunk to take off :)

It was all going relatively well until this week, I ran a hilly 20 mile race last weekend and was relatively happy with 2:23 but felt it wasn't quick enough if I want sub 3 at London.

Then to make matters worse I came down with a cold the day after, so today has been my first run since last Sunday.

Yikes. Hope it doesn't screw up the plan too much.

My times have been interesting with Reading. This was the fourth year and I'm sure I can't run any quicker than this without changing my training completely to be more running than cycling, which I don't want to do.

Times have gone from, 2:14 to 1:58 to 1:52 to 1:46 :)

59 minute half marathon, what a Jerk!!! :mrgreen:
 
Got my pack this morning then saw a post on Facebook saying 1 month to go :shock:

Got another 20 miles in this afternoon, faded a bit in the last two miles against the wind but expected it after my cold and no running this week.

Starting to get excited now :D
 
Last long run tomorrow :shock: 22 miles hopefully at 7.15 m/miles then racing in The Gilwern Grunt on Monday which should be fun on tired legs :D

I still think sub 3 is possible but I'm going to have to absolutely destroy myself to do it now :LOL: it will probably come down to what the weather does on the day, so fingers crossed for freezing cold with a light drizzle :D
