local roads....

Essex council just put up signs saying uneven surface.

I guess the signage money comes from a different budget to the repairs.

Disgraceful.

Report the hazards, then if you do damage a wheel (or anything else), you have a good chance of getting the council to pay, as they can no longer claim that they did not know about the hole.

I agree that the roads in Surrey are terrible. The ones on our clubs regular clubrun route have recently been tarred and chipped. Not only are the holes not repaired, but now you can't even see the holes before you are in them.

i had a mate who was nearly run over , he rode upto the car sat at the traffic lights got off and stamped an almighty dent into the front wing . the driver wasnt pleased and started shouting things like " what are you doing !"

his reply was a bellowing ( he was over 6ft and built with it ) " i dont know who your talking to , you killed me back there !"

the guy just drove off . there was a point where i thought the car was going to get pulled apart on the street  so since then its always been the best thing to say when you nearly end up under a tyre

i had to go through town today , never noticed until now just how awful it is in traffic . i normally use the nicer roads out of town but i had to use a lot of the gutter part of the road and its shocking :( not such a problem if you dominate the lane but riding that quick can become tiring . i dont understand why drains need to be recessed 4inchs into the tarmac :?
