I got this bike when I was 13 years old. I got it in France from the local bike shop in the town where my grandparents lived. The bike originally belonged to the shop owner, Alain DeCarvahlo. He was a TDF rider in the 80s who retired and opens his own shop. At the time she was retired from road riding and used this bike for his new MTB hobby.
This bike was my dream and the time and I convinced my grandparents and a couple of aunts and uncles to by it for me as a birthday present. It got lots of love from 91-96 when I rode it throughout the hills of France. Then I grew up and didn’t do much riding. It bounced around from the family barn, to an uncle’s house, to an aunt’s house until 2018 when I found myself living in Switzerland and had the opportunity to pick it up and make it my own again. It was a little worse for its age, but I have it some love. Put on some NOS shifters and brakes, a NOS upgraded stem and some new pedals, cables, seat, grips, tires, skewers and bar ends. (Which I purchased from the original owners bike shop in 2018 ) It has a vintage set of Wolber racing wheels and in its current condition brings back so many feels to my youth. Love it as a fun little dirt and road cruiser.
It has now made its journey all the way back to my home in American where it puts a smile on my face every time I see it.
