Kona 1992 Cinder Cone - which fork originally?

Hi,

back in 1994 I bought a slightly used 1992 Kona Cinder Cone which had been upgraded by a bike shop technician: Deore DX all around and a Quadra 10 fork. This bike has been with me ever since and apart from the usual maintenance everything is still working fine. Exception is the Quadra 10 which is everything but a good driving experience now with the elastomer being about 25 y/o.

So I would like to swap it for a rigid fork, ideally the original one. If I understand correctly that would be a P2 fork. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to which specific type and size of the P2 I am looking for and ideally where to get one?

Cheers,

Hi Hans
Yes, the bike would have had a Project 2. Catalogue spec is here: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2/v/M ... 8.jpg.html

Fork would have been the triple butted version of the P2, which is lighter than the standard one. They come up sometimes on here and you could try the Wanted section here on forum to see if anybody has one. Ebay always worth a look too.

I think in 1992 the fork would have had an axle to crown race measurement of 390 mm as they were pre-suspension correction (later P2s were 410 mm).

You will need to measure the head tube length of the frame to see how long a steerer you need on the fork.
