KEEPING Orange Formula 1989. NOT FOR SALE

Cheshire1980

Orange 🍊 Fan
Very Reluctant sale  Need funds for wedding so this has to be sold. PRICE is £1400. (I orgainally paid £1500 for it last year). If you would like it posted it will be extra, probably £50 or so given its worth and the insurance required to post it. ( NO INTERNATIONAL POSTING) Happy for collection or to drive part of the way for cost if required.
There is a very detailed thread on here done by Coleman, in which the frame was restored by the frame builder Kevin Winter. Underneath is a price listing of the bike parts and breakdown of cost.

Frame/Fork (19 inch frame) Donahue build for Orange, Very Rare. - £570 eBay
Refurb (Kevin Winter) lacquer over the decals has been done - £350
Stem roller cam - £25
Headset - NOS XT - £40
Bars, NOS Tange Prestige - £30
Grips, Original Grab-Ons with end caps - £30
Seat post, NOS Deore XT - £65
Saddle, NOS Selle San Marco in White - £40
Seat QR, NOS XT, £15
BB, UN71, £25
Chainset, XT Biopace, £65
Front Mech, XT, £25
Rear Mech, XT, £35
Cassette, UN70, £30
Chain, NOS HG90, £25
Brakes, NOS XT m730, £60
Brake levers, XT, £40
Thumbies, XT, £45
Wheels, NOS Mavic MA40/NOS XT hubs, £175
Tyres, Panaracer TIMBUK IIs (mombat repros) £80
NOS Shimano cables, tubes, tapes etc - £30
Total - £1800

Anything that isn't listed as NOS is great condition. The NOS stuff was NOS at build - its been ridden a couple of times - apart from the wheels - I put another pair in for riding so they are unmarked.

Condition of the bike is extremely good, the only very minor things are, a tiny chip on paint on the top tube where the orange embossed logo is as pictured (only about a mm square). Also the front mech clamp has marked the paint - you cant see it when its on but you can when it is off.
Overall the bike rides very well, no damage in terms of cracks, dents, nothing is seized etc...
Am going to throw in the Orange one piece bar and stem combo, as these originally came with Orange formula's, will need re-spraying/ restoring etc, but no use to me now. Any questions please ask.

Option of Splitting, prefer not too  , but appreciate its a lot of money, so option 2 is £1000, this will include FRAME, FORKS, XT HEADSET, PRESTIGE BARS, STEM, XT SEAT BINDER, XT FRONT MECH and Bottom Bracket only. Postage I would guess 30-40 pounds with insurance.

Re:

What’s the top tube length and would you sell without certain parts? I’ve loads of XT stuff so wouldn’t need it all and it’d save me money.

Re:

Hi thanks for interest. Top tube is 56cm, 22inch, as the seat tube had a lean to it as pictured. Am not looking to splitting it. cheers.

Re:

Thanks for the swift reply. It looks like it’s the right size for me, and I understand the reluctance to split, but I cannot justify the expense at the moment. I’ll have a look at what parts I could sell and may get back to you regarding the whole bike.

Good luck with the sale.

Re: ORANGE FORMULA 1989 FOR SALE.

Thanks for your kind comments, not an easy decision to make this, however, have bills to pay, and really like my other Orange bikes equally as much as this Formula, but the bottom line is that this Formula is worth 5-6 times of my other retro MTB's. plus it doesn't sit well with me to have a bike that am too frightened to ride, not one for wall hangers am afraid. Feel guilty and sad to be selling, but needs must!

What a shame Calum and an even bigger one I can't afford it!

Thought about what I could sell but even then I'd be a way off unfortunately.
