tell me about it, shops were all too keen to sell you the bike regardless of size for a long time...or at least had little no idea about sizing for mtbs.

my first real mountainbike (frame only) an orange clockwork 19" from a reputable shop 1990?
my 2nd real mtb a 15" orange clockwork from the same shop, "oh yeah pretty funny you bought that 19" 1991/92

Yeah. My first Clockwork was a 19" back in 1994ish when I was 14 and a lot shorter than I am now.
My current Clockwork is also a 19" and i'm 6 foot 1" now.

My local Orange stockist just wanted to unload what they had in stock back in 1994. I went in to buy a 17" satin black Clockwork and ended up with a 19" flouro orange one!
Loved it to death though - even if it did stretch my spine.

Cant remember how tall i was in my teens, my heavy paper round seemed to slow down growth but i shot up to 6 foot 2 at 16 so from 13 - 15 must of had a 18" or 19" Shogun, 18" GT, nearly got a 20", and a 19" Orange, all felt fine, but ouch a 23.5 never entered my crazy mind! if you are a roadie though you would not blink. I'll carry on with the balls preservation thanks... :D

friggin giants
