I've used the task manager AND Process Explorer to find out what is causing my high CPU and while it says it's running at 100% none of the services/programs running individually go anywhere near this - what's going on? OS is Windows 7.

From what I read Windows Update may have been causing it, however it's now disabled and it's still the same.

It seems to be elements within SVChost.exe but there are so many services in there and none of them appear to be causing the prob individually. Seems to do it for a few minutes then calms down and then for no apparent reason kicks off again.

Ideas? :(

Are you launching process explorer (or switching it too) full admin rights so you can see everything ?
File -> Show Details for all Processes

leave it ad see what it logs.

Could just be sorting stuff out in the background like it should.

What CPU is in your computer?
