Help = Downloading music library from iPod to new laptop

Last time I tried this it only downloaded apple purchases, so in very simple, non=jargon language, for the techno numpty that is me, how do I put the entire contents of my iTunes library, currently on my iPod, onto a new laptop?

I can't transfer anything from the old laptop as it's goosed!

The music library is a mix of apple purchased music and tracks ripped from CD's

Thanks in advance - please make it idiot-proof - I'm 50 next week!

Try a piece of software called Sharepod, you have to pay for it (around £17?) but it's nice and simple and will see you right (has for me!). Hope this helps.

DONT DOWNLOAD ITUNES YET!

Plug in your ipod, create a new file and transfer the contents to the new file.

NOW DOWNLOAD ITUNES

Ask itunes to look for new music - entire contents of iPod will transfer over or you can drag & drop.

Sorry to have doubt. I am retro in bikes and technology and I could lose the mobile and not bat an eyelid but to lose a collection it's taken sometime to get would be upsetting.
