GT frame set, 20", 1993 to 1995, Bravado, Karakoram, Talera

Hello, I'm relative new in the "classic bike" thing. Relative because I'm riding a more than 20 year old Enik frame with 2008 parts.

Now I want to build up a GT MTB in my size, which is similar to my first "real" bike - the 1995 GT Talera in blue, which i get as i was 14yo.

So my wish list is:
- GT Karakoram or GT Bravado or another one of the better frame sets from 1993 to 1995 (they seem to have the same decal design like the 1995 Talera) - blue would be an advantage
- GT Talera from 1995 with blue colour (there were several others)

20" should be my size (I am 183cm tall).

"Biggest" problem: Shipping to germany should be possible.

thanks, it is the right bike, but not the right size.

If measured GT method centre centre going to be more like a 19". Looks bigger than 17 ... probably wrong though.

That should be ok at 6" 2" but obviously you know what size you are after. Good luck.

as i was 14yo I've got a 18" Talera ... with 21y I built it up again, but had to position the saddle on the widest position even with the 120mm stem.

i know in the mid 90s long stems and short steering tubes were usual but geometry changed - what is an actual geometry for some one with 183cm height and 86cm inner leg length? i think arround 590mm frame length and a 100mm stem. A 20" should work fine in that case with 585mm length.

am I wrong?

Depends what you like really. I am a fairly normal proportioned 6" 2" and my 19" zaskar fitted me like a glove.

I can test a 20" GT - after that i can tell more.

But I think under 19" will be to small and to short (or just a base for a silly drop bar whatever).
The Talera in the Ebay link will be 18" (the cheap ones just had 2" steps: 16", 18", 20", 22"). Here on ebay is a 22" one - a 20" must be the next :)

A 1995 Karakoram would be even better - don't know why - saw it in a catalogue and "love" it.

Right on. When I was 14 I got a rocky mountain hammer. Also in 1995 and 18.5" At 6'3.5" I picked up a bunch of early 20"+ rocky mountain frames. I have to say, I think the weld quality on my '95 hammer was superior than that on my '91 hammer or '92 blizzard  .

Anyway, good luck recreating the bike of your 14 yo dreams. I am having a time. I need to start some build threads soon.
