Great big Singlespeed thread!

Cant beat a classic white Inbred, the bike I wish I'd bought but never did

The bike I wish I'd never sold!

Nothing fancy or special about them, bit of a "workhorse" frame, but the last one seemed to suit me, so hopefully this one will be the same.
(just remembered I've had a white Inbred in 26" wheel size in the past as well, and that got converted to SS  ).

My latest project started life as a white 26er Inbred.

I picked it up for a tenner as a khaki green rattle can no name frame at a jumble.

It'll be getting a 2nd top tube added, donated by another frame from the same jumble, for £4 this time,

Started on it yesterday. 2nd toptube will mean no room for water bottles so I've filled and smoothed the holes and done the rack mounts on the wishbone at the same time. I've removed the cable guides from the top of the toptube and will be replacing them with lower profile guides underneath the tube.

I've also cut the toptube out the donor frame and made a stool out of the rear triangle of it. It'll take me a wee while to get the mitre-ing done on it, I'll need to get it pretty close in order to braze it, there might be an opportunity for me to tig it though so...

Re:

Awesome work

Knee op means no ss for me at the moment. Might dip my toe back in if it improves in 2018

Made it ride-able today, still got the additional toptube to sort out but I wanted to get it in a state where it can be used.

Stripped the fork by heating the paint with my mapp torch and wire brushing the paint off, then lacquered it while it was still pretty hot. Hopefully this will help the lacquer stick as laqcuered raw steel always seems like a temporary solution but we'll see.

Re:

Been lovin' it so far - wish I'd took the plunge sooner!

Seems such a normal way of riding, too.

Bike weighs just under 23lb so no lightweight. But the more robust build of the P7 frame seems really suited to a SS. Fork is great as well, no regrets losing the RC-36s thankfully.

So far so good! :D

Re:

My freshly built ss bike. Built primarily to ride at the ss euro champs in Koksijde, Belgium in March, but I will be riding it other times too. Pictured here as a hardtail, but only because I'm painting some rigid forks to match.

Appropriately called an UN, given it's French origin and set up !
