Flying with a bike box as extra luggage?

Thanks for the input people

Believe it or not apart from the wheels, I have managed to take it apart and put it within our luggage holdalls

I am sure there wouldnt of been any problems but just cant be arsed with any hassle (took 3 hours to get through LAX coming in without any special requests as it was )

Thanks again

Dave

Hi Dave,

I brought a bike back from the US a few years ago.

Flew with Delta from Atlanta to London Gatwick and I think the charge for the bike in the box was $75, no problems apart from the hole in my wallet. I couldn't even sweet talk them with my "cute Australian accent"... Haha.

Are you coming home? Or coming over on holiday? If so where are you riding in the UK?

Safe flight. And pack her up well, if something can get knocked, bashed or damaged, it will!!

Cheers for that, I am coming back home from visiting family over here... Been a great 3 weeks loved every day of it :D

Think I have gone down the best route for me even losing out on a set of wheels, really not wanting to spend any money getting it back :?

I flew Glasgow to Amsterdam a few years back
I put my bike in a cardboard bike box i got from the local shoppe
I seem to remember there was no extra charge
