Actually I sent the chap a rather cheeky email daring him to start the auction at a penny, which he has done. So fair play. Ebay will always reveal a rare item's true value. Where he got £1000 from I'll never know.

£63.10 - pretty good for a bell.
Met an old man today that claimed he worked at Rattrays in the 1950's. Should have asked him if he had any bells lying around the house.
