my mate rode ... modern carbon & highly trained. He's done it 2 years now and seriously reckons its the best cycling weekend he's ever had. The fit bastard did 3hrs 30mins though, which aint bad for someone in his 50's.

that's an incredible time for a 21 year old never mind someone more than twice that age!

honestly, there were even fat guys flying past me all day long! one guy shot past with a pair of old gutties and no clips - i jest ye not! i think it must be full of first cat riders who "dress down" for the day just to mess with my head!!
