Do they have the 'hidden' click to run 8spd?

The 7sp ones do, though the hidden click is really just pushing it past the last one, but it works.

Yes, its just shoving it off the end of the dial and into the spring mount.

Suntour really is 7/ 8 switchable btw.

And tbh..why would they have an extra hidden 8th gear, when 8 speed hadn't been invented when m732 shifters appeared....in fact 7 was new and trendy!

But it does work as @ishaw says, provided you stop the movement with the derailleur limit screws.

How does the suntour switch from 7/8 ?

The later 7/8 sp version has 8 dimples in the plate....turning the top selector to 7, essentially limits the selector arm movement.

Suntour has no shift issuse between 7 and 8 as they maintained the same spacing from 7 to 8 speed cassettes. So switching over makes no odds.

Weirdly this also means the spacing is really really not that far from 8 speed shimano when totalled up....well closer than 7. So 8 suntour runs dandy on 8 sp shimano cassettes (ive done it for 30 odd years).

The 8th click in the Shimanos is just the hole for the bearing, that happens to be in about the correct position. That is why the click is not so firm as in the others.

Put them on slidy setting not clicky (friction v's index?)? Might feel more natural?
