The brake cables come from here, they are the silver braided, you can also get Gold braided which are brilliant as well, I can recommend this supplier, also has the tiered cable ends for brake and gear cables needed for retro builds such as this.

Well 52/36 front works, 16t difference, the Big ring arrived £5 for NOS Sakae from an internet deal, very nice, stole the Suntor Mech of my daughters Carlton Courette as the Sachs Mech,I had planned did not work, works a treat, no rubbing in high or low, all I need is one of these, anybody got a spare??
