Anyone ride horses as well as bikes?

as Gradeafailures other half I take full responsibility for getting him involved in horses and making him sit on the damn things.... we have 3 horses between us (3 bikes too, strangely enough) and as soon as we have transport for the horses we are off to one of the large commons round here to settle the horse v bike arguement..

so, which is faster across country - half a tonne of snorting prancing racehorse or a Yo Eddy??? only time will tell..... :)

Just out of interest in the annual man vs horse vs bike race in Llanwrtyd Wells, I think the only time a horse didn't win was when Tim Gould (or it might have been Barrie Clarke) won it...

over such a long distance - the race is about 24 miles, right? - then I would say horse everytime, however on slightly flatter terrain and over a much shorter sprinting distance then I'm not so sure....

like them but i'm not going on one again
horsey lady"have you ridden a pony before?
me "no"
lady "then you can have maybell she's a bit out of sorts at the moment
but she is a very gentle pony"
me "oh good a beginners horse"
lady"here she comes now "
me "oh f**k look at the size of that"
now ponys are about the size of a large dog ,right? this thing was huge
i'm 6ft and it's shoulders were about 6ft2"
anyways we set off PONY trekking and maybell started doing weelies
and walking sideways then she stopped "pull the reigns " shouts horsey lady, more weelies, after about half an hour of this we were back at the
stables. couldn't wait to get off ,and my arse and thighs jeez
horsey lady "you've got the makings of a good horseman you know"
don't think so.

When I want to stop on abike , I just apply the brakes in most times it works .

But on a horse , he is the boss and stops when and where he decides .

My father in law used to own race horses,
My wife and I both used to ride,
My brother in law (whisper it) hunts,
The general consensus is...

There's only one boss on a horse and it 'aint you!
