ANOTHER MYSTERY BIKE! IDENTIFICATION HELP NEEDED

Re:

I've had a response. Briggs has confirmed that it is indeed one of theirs, a 50s Superbe model to be exact. They are going to check the number against their records tomorrow and get back to me with any further details they might have. Just out of interest, this bike will be going in my collection, but will see a major major restoration first, taking it right back to original spec and finish, any ideas what it would be worth in a top condition? I've owned literally hundreds of English bikes but never a Briggs. Thanks for all the help

That's great news and probably the quickest response I've seen. No idea on a price or what parts. Check the V-CC National bicycle library for a catalogue. Will give you an idea on parts. Ellis Briggs transfers are available if not from Briggs but H Lloyd.
You can end up spending more than the bikes worth but saving it and preserving it is worth more.
Be good if you can find out who owned it or if it was made for first.
