Re:

I'd like to add a beauty to this thread. I went to a garage sale a few weeks ago and bought a beryllium Rek Tek.

A great thread on Fb in the Vintage Canadian Mountain Bike group was started with lots of great info on the frame as well as beryllium frames in general. I'd link us up but I don't think rbuk allows Fb linking sadly, so you'll have to search for it.

Not on fb and always forget about the above group. Just had a look through and some great posts on at the moment :)

I remember drooling over the RekTek's in the Fir street shop, but I couldn't afford even a nice bike from Rocky or Kona at the time - still can't to tell the truth. Nice to see people collecting them.

This thread shall be for the discussion of all things RekTek.

RekTek is a relatively obscure Canadian frame that was made (maybe) & sold (for sure) through Reckless Rider Cyclery in Vancouver in the 80s and 90s. I'm not certain of the exact dates. Maybe they never stopped making custom bikes… I see on their twitter feed that they are launching a bit of a comeback… seems to be a trend around here lately.

I own a RekTek steel frame from 1989, and there is at least one other retro biker here (tiboltrider) who owns a spectacular titanium version.

Once I begin the rebuild I'll start a separate thread in the Reader's MTB forum.

So if you own a RekTek or you've seen one for sale or your co-worker rides one to work every day then please post here and tell us about it.
I have a rek tek that im about to post 4sale.i dont know too much about its history but i can say for an older bike she still rides like a dream and is pretty comfortable
