Devout Dirtbag
Seems to have taken ages but the STS is finished
Many thanks to fellow Retobikers who have supplied parts for this, full story is bought off Ebay as VGC with full XTR, eventually turned up nearly 2 weeks later in terrible mess with selection of mostly worn out LX kit and Tektro v brakes and a knackered/smashed rear shock
In terms of rebuilding, as boring as it may seem I have chosen to fit mostly original spec parts - as this was the top end suspension bike of the day from GT, it had XTR / Sids / Crossmax as standard, its still dependable stuff so why not?
With the Xizang and STS together I now actually own the 2 bikes I could only dream of back in 1999 although the Xizang is still likely to get more use - I just don't trust that seat tower on the STS, its scary thin and they were prone to breaking when brand new never mind 12 years later!
